Making a List and Checking it Twice...

Nope...  nothing to do with Santa Claus or Christmas shopping...  it's time for me to get serious about packing for our 3 months in Mexico.  I do a lot of my planning in my mind long before I start dragging shorts and tee shirts out of the closet.  But I've learned that keeping an on-going list of what we took on previous trips is a great help in remembering to put them in the luggage.  It's not the clothes, but the battery chargers, memory cards, cables and the like that are hard to replace if left at home.

Our daughter has a spare bedroom and doesn't mind if I take our luggage over there to pack...  that way I can add stuff for a week or so before we leave.  That is such a help as our motorhome just doesn't have that space.

We've been kinda busy getting things done....  like that call from Medicare.  I suppose a lot of you out there know what I'm talking about (well, maybe not my Canadian friends)...  but open enrollment for insurance ended on December 7th...  which was the date of our "scheduled" phone call from medicare.  We were on the phone 1 hour and 48 minutes!
Does Bill look bored?
There were long "recorded" disclosure-type recitations that went on and on...
And then the woman who called had us answer (very formally) all kinds of questions...  I started giggling...  sounded like a wedding ceremony to me...   I, Sharon Wallace, take thee, Medicare, to be my lawful insurance plan for the coming year....
Oh well....  we made our choice and it's done.

One morning I went out before daylight...
The Moon and Venus
What a sight!

And another morning the sunrise was gorgeous..
The skies were fire red!

And the oak tree across from us...  the one that has dead, brown leaves now...  looked like this...
The red skies reflected on the leaves making them look like a maple in autumn colors.

We fly out of DFW tomorrow before noon....  get to Puerta Vallarta a couple hours or so later...  and find our way up to Lo de Marcus where we've rented a bungalow until mid-March.  We've been in the area a few times in the past, but never stayed here, so it will be another great adventure.

That's All For Today!

  3. I'm looking forward to travelling with you, through your posts. I have a similar pre-packing process, but without the list. From experience, it's time for me to develop that list I so think I can do without :) The memory's just not as good as it used to be!

  4. Since giving up the full time thing, I have resorted to a checklist I use every time we make a trip to ensure nothing really important is left behind.

  11. Happy packing! Out of all the areas around Puerta Vallarta Lo de Marcus is probably one of the better spots to pick.

    Enjoy your time there!
